A rapid and simple method has been developed for precisely locating and cutting 1–3 mm strips from the isoelectric focusing gel during two‐dimensional electrophoresis using the PhastSystem. The protocol utilizes an easily constructed styrofoam template with marks to guide accurate cutting of the strips from the sample lanes. This system greatly enhances the reproducibility and quality of the two‐dimensional patterns obtained.
