By taking advantage of the insensitivity of immobilized pH gradients to high protein and salt loads, microheterogeneity and polymorphism of α 1 ‐acid glycoprotein could be demonstrated on whole serum by conventional Coomassie Brilliant Blue G‐250 staining. Different running conditions were compared for optimal resolution.
