A new method of identifying allo A lectin‐binding glycoproteins separated by isoelectric focusing is described. The method is based on the combination of neuraminidase treatment, isoelectric focusing and Durapore filter blotting followed by detection with allo A lectin. The technique is simple and reproducible for the determination of both the alpha 1‐antitrypsin and orosomucoid phenotypes in genetic and forensic investigations.
