A new approach for crossed immunoelectrofocusing is described. It combines isoelectric focusing in polyacrylamide gel cylinders and immunoelectrophoresis through vertical antibody‐containing agarose gels enclosed in glass cassettes. The approach, using the same apparatus as for high resolution two‐dimensional electrophoresis, has been successfully applied to human serum proteins and the effect of incorporating an antibody concentration gradient in the immunoelectrophoresis gels demonstrated.
