The use of peroxidase‐conjugated antibodies for detecting specific tumor associated antigens bound to nitrocellulose membranes is being increasingly used in our laboratory. This method offers many advantages. However, we have observed several problems which can cause confusing results and possible misinterpretations. Some methods of eliminating artifacts are described as well as the use of glutaraldehyde vapor fixation as a means to increase sensitivity.
