Nonspecific binding of p‐phenylenediamine‐pyrocatechol peroxidase substrate to electrofocused proteins

Nonspecific staining of electrofocused protein bands was found with the peroxidase product of Hanker‐Yates reagent (a mixture of p‐phenylenediamine and pyrocatechol). No difficulty was encountered with diaminobenzidine as peroxidase substrate.
