A one‐step method for combined diazonium ion synthesis and electrode grafting was developed. Diazonium salts were synthesized by using a glassy carbon electrode to grind together a water paste of aryl amine, p ‐toluenesulfonic acid, and sodium nitrite. Diazonium ion formation was verified by Raman spectroscopy and by a color change upon reaction of the paste with 2‐naphthol. Cyclic voltammetry after grinding electrodes showed characteristic peaks for grafted groups. Diazonium ion synthesis and grafting was achieved with amines including p ‐nitroaniline, 2‐aminoanthraquinone, and 5‐amino‐2‐nitrobenzoic acid.
