A treatment based on equations for the Convention II activity coefficients of the components of two‐dimensional solutions in combination with the transition state theory has been developed. As a result, two types of current‐potential characteristics have been derived for quasi‐reversible simple surface electrode reactions. The molecular features of the surface solutions to which each current‐potential relation applies have been established. The current‐potential characteristics obtained in this work coincide with those derived by Laviron using a less straigth and general treatment.
