A computationally efficient fully implicit approach to the simulation of linear sweep and potential step voltammetry at a channel microdisk electrode is derived. The generality of the method is illustrated with reference to the simple case of a reversible one electron transfer reaction. The influence of flow rate and the effects of axial, lateral and normal diffusion upon the electrolysis current are quantified. Scan rate and electrode geometry dependences are established and the requirements for measurement of true steady state hydrodynamic voltammograms defined.
