The electrochemical oxidation of isoniazid catalyzed by the 2,2,6,6‐tetramethyl‐4‐acetylpiperidine‐1‐oxy(TMAPO) radical at a glassy carbon electrode in phosphate buffer solution has been studied. The rate constant of the reaction for isoniazid and the oxoammonium salt evaluated by rotating disk voltammetry is (2.36 ± 0.12)×10 4 dm 3 mol −1 s −1 . The electrochemical behavior of the TMAPO radical and the stability of the oxoammonium salt have also been investigated by cyclic voltammetry. The linear relationship between the catalytic peak current and the isoniazid concentration over the range of 4 × 10 −4 ‐2 × 10 −3 M was used for the determination of isoniazid in isoniazid tablets. A method for analysis of isoniazid was established.
