Abstract An output current of an amperometric glucose sensor was controlled by modifying the electric charge at a head group and the number of deposited layers of Langmuir–Blodgett films. The output current was enhanced by using a positively charged LB film, because the zeta‐potential of glucose oxidase was negative in preparing condition. The response increased proportionally to the number of deposited layers from 4 to 8. The current signal of a 16‐layer sensor, however, was lower than that of the 8‐layer one. Glucose diffusion was suppressed by the densely packed LB films. The glucose concentration was measured up to 50 mM.
