A new approach is presented to the study, monitoring, control and utilization of electrode processes based on the compression of interfacial boundaries. The principle is demonstrated by the adsorption of 4,4′‐bipyridyl on mercury electrode from 0.1 M H 2 SO 4 for which a compression diagram (isotherm) is provided and the phenomena accompanying the compression are analyzed. Prospects for the development of new compression techniques are discussed.
