Several redox systems with reactants which are immobilized at the electrode surface (EuSal complex, Se IV and Se IV in the presence of Cu II , cysteine and p ‐nitrophenol) were studied by square‐wave voltammetry to examine whether their redox kinetics can be measured by using the phenomenon of the ‘quasireversible maximum’. This is explained in detail. The following standard rate constants are obtained: EuSal complex k s = 720 ± 31 s −1 , Se IV /Cu II , log [ k s /(cms −1 )] = 0.94 ± 0.9, cysteine, log [ k s /(cms −1 )] = 0.6 ± 0.9 and p ‐nitrophenol, k s > 1200 ± 50 s −1 .
