The electrochemical determination of iron in doped YBaCuO superconducting compounds has been investigated by differential pulse polarography (SMDE) and by differential pulse voltammetry using a glassy carbon electrode. A well‐defined peak for iron was observed at –0.15 V (vs. Ag‐AgCl) reference electrode in sodium citrate/EDTANa 2 H 2 pH 6. The electrochemical results have been validated by spectroscopic procedures, including atomic absorption and energy dispersion X‐ray spectroscopy. The differential pulse polarography using the standard addition method for peak validation has been found to be most appropriate.
