This article reviews developments in sensor array research, with the main focus being on arrays of electrochemical sensors, particularly potentiometric and amperometric/voltammetric electrodes. Comparison is made with single electrode measurements and the differences in approach highlighted. Progress in classification of complex gas/vapor samples into fuzzy categories is surveyed. Techniques for processing array data are summarized and relevant literature given.
