The electrosorption of benzonitrile (BN) and benzylcyanide (BC) on a polycrystalline silver electrode from aqueous electrolyte solutions was studied with surface‐enhanced Raman spectroscopy (SERS). Spectra, obtained with the potential of the electrode within a potential range where, according to simultaneously performed cyclic voltammetry, solely adsorption occurs, showed bands clearly attributable to molecules adsorbed on the silver electrode. The results imply both end‐on adsorption via the nitrile group and edge‐on orientation, depending mostly upon the composition of the supporting electrolyte solution.
