A very sensitive and selective single‐sweep oscillopolarographic method has been developed for determining trace molybdenum down to 0.06 ng/ml. In the presence of 0.040M mandelic acid‐0.10% OP emulsifier‐0.10M potassium chlorate‐1.0M sulfuric acid Mo(VI) exhibits a very sensitive and sharp polarographic catalytic adsorptive wave at −0.10 V (vs. SCE). The oscillopolarographic behavior and the influence of foreign ions were studied. Molybdenum in human hair, ore, and steel samples were analyzed by this method, and excellent results were obtained.
