A fast differential pulse polarographic method for the determination of the artificial sweeteners acesulfame‐K and saccharin in beverages has been developed. Polarograms of the sweeteners are recorded directly in a supporting electrolyte containing 0.1 M NaCl (5.8 g/L) and 0.004 M tetrabutyl ammonium iodide (1.5 g/L). The pH of the supporting electrolyte is adjusted to 1.9 with concentrated HCl. The results are found to be in good agreement with high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) results.
