We describe a new amperometric biosensor which is constructed from a mercury film electrode and an enzyme‐immobilized membrane. This biosensor is based on detecting the reduction current of an organic acid produced by enzyme reactions. The detection range of this biosensor was 5.0 × 10 −4 – 3.0 × 10 −3 M and relative standard deviation, R.S.D. at 1.0 × 10 −3 M was 4.8%.
