The electrochemical reduction behavior of nitrofurazone has been studied by employing dc polarography, cyclic voltammetry, and differential pulse polarography in the universal buffers of pH ranging from 2.0 to 12.0. A differential pulse polarographic method is described for the determination of nitrofurazone in its pharmaceutical formulations using the standard addition method. The kinetic parameters, such as diffusion coefficients ( D ) and heterogeneous forward rate constant ( k f, h o ) values are evaluated using these techniques.
