The influence of steric and electronic effects of Biogenic compounds on their redox behavior at an electrochemically pretreated glassy carbon electrode in comparison to the polished electrode is elucidated by cyclic voltammetric data. The improvement of reversibility on a pretreated electrode increases mainly in order of carboxylic to amine substituent in position 1, acting by the I‐effect, and of unsymmetrical substituted compounds in positions 3 and 4, to symmetrical (dihydroxy‐) substituted compounds as attributed to steric hindrance of the electrode transfer.
