The electroanalytical utility of electrodes modified with inorganic films is reviewed. Various types of inorganic layers (metal oxides, polynuclear transition metal cyanides, zeolites, metal porphyrins and phthalocyanines) are assessed. Various detection schemes based on these modified surfaces are described in 129 references.
