Guthion, a pesticide, was determined by flow‐injection analysis using single‐ and three‐channel systems with and without a chemical reaction. The experimental variables involved in each case were investigated and optimized, and the analytical features of the two procedures were compared. A method based on the oxidation of anthranilic acid yielded in the alkaline hydrolysis of the pesticide at a glassy carbon electrode is proposed for its determination. The detection limit is 4.1 × 10 −7 M, and the relative standard deviation is 2.2% (n = 10) when the hydrolysis reaction takes place within the threeenamel manifold.
