Cephalexin complexes with Ni(II) and Co(II) ions have been studied polarographically in an aqueous medium with a pH of 7–7.5, and an ionic strength of 0.2. It is shown that Ni(II) and Co(II) ions and cephalexin form [NiCEF] + and [CoCEF] + complexes under the experimental conditions cited. The stoichiometric composition of the complexes and the stability constants, log K ′ = 3.16 for Ni(II)‐cephalexin and log K ′ = 3.09 for Co(II) cephalexin, were determined by the Leden method.
