The nature of polarographic precurrents of nickel(II) ion in the presence of ampicillin as well as the behavior of ampicillin in the electrical double layer has been investigated, and the reduction mechanism has been proposed. The rate of the homogeneous chemical reaction was calculated to be k f = 1.5 × 10 4 L mol −1 s −1 .
