A method which allows evaluation of the irradiation efficiency of flow‐through photoelectrochemical detector cells for liquid chromatography and flow injection analysis has been developed. The method is based on the determination of the light intensity incident inside of the irradiation cell using the potassium ferrioxalate actinometer. The concentration of the actinometer is measured electrochemically in the flowing system. Typical detector cells used for photoelectrochemical detection were evaluated to demonstrate the method.
