A small pump connected to an automatic voltammetric electrode gently and reproducibly agitates the cell solution as required for efficient stripping analysis. The pump consists of a membrane and an electromagnetic vibrator. The movement of the membrane is accompanied by periodic convection due to pressure changes in the gas enclosed in the space between the membrane and the solution. The mass transport is as effective as in common magnetic stirring. The usefulness of the new system for stripping analysis (as compared to analysis carried out in common cells) is demonstrated.
