The Cover Feature shows a classic C−C bond forming reaction driven by the photochemical activity of the most used perylene diimide (PDI). Indeed, this PDI is largely employed as organic photoredox catalyst for synthetic purposes. Thanks to its outstanding optical and redox properties, the PDIs have emerged as prominent chromophores capable of driving numerous relevant photocatalytic organic transformations. This Minireview highlights the recent advances within this field, with a specific focus on the various mechanistic pathways of the photo‐reduction reaction of aryl halides, recently proposed in independent studies.
