The Front Cover shows an allegory of the formation of polydopamine (black material) from dopamine (white). This polymer is easily formed by oxidation. It contains heterocyclic rings in various states of oxidation. The cover feature reflects the fairy tale “Frau Holle” (“Mother Hulda”) from the famous book “Children's and Household Tales” collected by the brothers Grimm. Frau Holle shakes her beds in the sky creating snow fall at the earth. A girl visited her house in expectation to get gold as reward for her activities as another girl got before her. However, she was lazy and thus punished by being covered with pitch. In the cartoon, however, this is not pitch but polydopamine – something useful and valuable. Sometimes also lazy persons have good luck! Artwork by graphic artist Maria Surducan, Cluj‐Napoca, Romania ( mariasurducan.com ). More information can be found in the Minieview by J. Liebscher.
