A one‐step method for the synthesis of 1,2‐dihydrobenzofuran‐fused C ‐aryl glycosides and C2‐ O ‐phenolic glycals from the reaction of 1,2‐anhydrosugars with in situ generated arynes has been developed. The glucal‐ and galactal‐derived 1,2‐anhydrosugars smoothly underwent the reaction to give the products in good yields. The C2‐ O ‐phenolic glycals could serve as new synthons in carbohydrate chemistry.
