A ruthenium‐catalyzed one‐pot synthesis of O ‐dienyl esters through the regio‐ and stereoselective addition of carboxylic acids to propargylic alcohols, and the atom‐transfer radical polymerisation of the products have been developed. The initial addition reaction takes place through the formation of a carbon–oxygen bond followed by dehydration.
