Abstract A modular method to synthesize acridine derivatives was developed with o ‐acylanilines and diaryliodonium salts. The reactions proceeded smoothly under Cu‐catalyzed or metal‐free reaction conditions at elevated temperature through tandem arylation/Friedel–Crafts reactions.
