Dicobalthexacarbonyl complexes of propargylammonium salts with non‐nucleophilic counterions BF 4 – and TfO – were successfully prepared in excellent yields. The X‐ray structure of complex 7a with a [CoCl 4 ] 2– counterion is reported. In contrast to the corresponding free base, the salt complexes readily underwent stoichiometric and catalytic cyclization with norbornadiene, providing, in some cases, enhanced reaction rates.
