A series of novel acyclic nucleoside phosphonates with a built‐in arylphosphonate moiety has been prepared by a microwave‐assisted cross‐coupling reaction as the key step. Their cytostatic and antiviral activities were tested. The p K a values of the target ortho ‐, meta ‐ and para ‐substituted arylphosphonates were determined by 31 P NMR titration studies.
