Abstract The regioselective decarboxylation of nitroalkanoates synthesized from Baylis–Hillman acetates of acrylates proceeds stereoselectively to afford homoallyl nitroalkanes. In contrast, nitroalkanoates derived from Baylis–Hillman acetates of acrylonitrile gave bisallyl nitroalkanes. (© Wiley‐VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. KGaA, 69451 Weinheim, Germany, 2009)
