Bromodimethylsulfonium bromide catalyzes Mannich‐type reactions of a variety of aldimines, generated in situ from aldehydes and anilines, with enolizable ketones or diethyl malonate in three‐component reactions to afford the corresponding β‐amino carbonyl compounds. The salient features of this protocol are: shorter reaction times, simplicity of the procedure, good to excellent yields, avoidance of aqueous workup and column‐chromatographic separations, and high stereoselectivities.(© Wiley‐VCH Verlag GmbH & Co.
