The Synthesis of Brominated Tetrafluoro[2.2]paracyclophanes

The bromination of the two isomeric tetrafluoro[2.2]paracyclophanes was investigated under various conditions.We found selective conditions for mono‐ and dibrominationof 1,1,9,9‐tetrafluoro[2.2]paracyclophane in high yields. Furthermore, three tetrabromo isomers were characterized. The para‐dibromide of 1,1,10,10‐tetrafluoro[2.2]paracyclophane was prepared in high yields. (© Wiley‐VCH Verlag GmbH & Co.
