A regioselective synthetic route that allows the construction of tri‐functionally substituted cyclen is described. This facilitates the synthesis of a europium complex that exhibits a good photoresponse to malate, forming the basis of a chemoselective sensor. (© Wiley‐VCH Verlag GmbH & Co.
