The cover picture shows the last step in the synthesis of an in ‐cyclophane. Like the medieval “iron maiden”, an instrument of torture in which the closing of a spiked door impaled a victim, the final ring closure forces a functional group into the face of a benzene ring. Details are discussed in the Microreview by R. A. Pascal, Jr. on p. 3763 ff.
