The stereoselectivity of β‐mannosylation can be improved with the use of a participating moiety at C‐4 ( O ‐anisoyl, O ‐thiocarbamoyl). This improvement was achieved in glycosidations of S ‐ethyl and, especially, S ‐benzoxazolyl (SBox) mannosides. (© Wiley‐VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. KGaA, 69451 Weinheim, Germany, 2005)
