Thiaporphyrins with one, two and four unsubstituted meso carbons were synthesized from easily available thiophene diols. The reactivity at these carbons was demonstrated by carrying out series of reactions and some very useful functional groups were introduced. (© Wiley‐VCH Verlag GmbH & Co.
