Amination of anisole and toluene with N ‐(4‐tolyl)hydroxylamine in trifluoroacetic acid was tuned to regioselectively provide the corresponding diarylamine by partial replacement of trifluoroacetic acid with a polar aprotic or a diethereal solvent.
