Abstract A versatile platform chemical and energy vector, bioglycerol from biodiesel manufacturing is increasingly finding new commercial applications. We report on some of the main achievements for converting glycerol into high‐value products and energy developed in the last two years, and conclude by providing an outlook on the evolving status of bioglycerol in the chemical industry.
