Abstract Iridium(III) complexes with cyclometalating ligands can achieve excellent properties for use as phosphorescent emitters in organic light emitting diodes. A series of complexes with 2‐phenyl‐pyridine and bis(pyrazolyl)borate ligands was investigated with regard to this application. The sky‐blue to green emitters showed nearly unitary quantum yields and short excited state lifetimes.
