Two‐dimensional Pb II iodoacetate complex {Pb(ICH 2 COO) 2 } n ( 1 ) was prepared by reaction of lead nitrate with potassium iodoacetate. In 1 , Pb is hepta‐coordinated; additionally, metal centers participate in non‐covalent I ··· I and Pb ··· I contacts. According to the analysis of XRD data and DFT calculations, the I ··· I non‐covalent interactions are crystal packing‐induced type I contacts, and Pb ··· I contacts are caused by interactions between Pb 2+ as electrophilic center and lone pairs of the iodine atom.
