The Cover Feature shows four reactive metal–hydroxo, metal–alkoxo, and metal–nitrato complexes. These and other M–O–X species are capable oxidants that can abstract hydrogen atoms from C–H and O–H bonds and can model the possible intermediates present in various enzymatic and synthetic catalytic cycles. They exemplify the variety of structures that can be involved in oxidation processes, aside from the more conventional metal–oxo species. More information can be found in the Microreview by P. Pirovano and A. R. McDonald .
