The cover picture shows the isostructural octacyanidoniobate(IV) and octacyanidomolybdate(IV) anions – building blocks for the construction of various magnetic molecular materials. The improved preparation methods enable the easier and faster synthesis of both salts with higher yield, even in labs that are not specialized in operations under an inert gas atmosphere. The alternative synthetic route to octacyanidoniobate(IV) will contribute to its “democratization” in the world of molecular magnetism. Details are discussed in the article by D. Pinkowicz et al. on p. 4872 ff . For more on the story behind the cover research, see the Cover Profile .
