Osmium anionic complexes, K[(PMe 3 )Os(CO) 3 (SiR 3 )] (R = Me, Et), were synthesized by deprotonation of the corresponding metal hydrides. The nucleophilicity of these compounds was demonstrated through the reaction of K[(PMe 3 )Os(CO) 3 (SiMe 3 )] with Cl 2 BDur and Br 2 BDur (Dur = 2,3,5,6‐tetramethylphenyl) to give haloboryl complexes through a salt elimination process that is unprecedented for osmium–boron chemistry.
