Dinitrogen complexes of the first row transition metals Cr–Co supported by 2 nd generation hydrotris(pyrazolyl)borate (Tp R,R′ ) ligands were characterized by structure and reactivity. Compounds of the type (Tp R,R′ M) n (N 2 ) ( n = 1,2) were prepared and evaluated as precursors for small molecule activation, with specific application to reactions of O 2 .
