The self‐assembly of quinolones with metal salts in the presence of aromatic polycarboxylato ligands or chloride anions produced three novel 3D metal–quinolone coordination polymers, namely [Cu 3 (ppa) 2 (oba) 2 (H 2 O) 4 ] · H 2 O ( 1 ), [Cd 3 (ppa) 2 (bpdc) 2 (H 2 O) 2 ] · 5H 2 O ( 2 ), and [Cd 2 (sara) 2 (μ 2 ‐Cl) 2 ] · 5H 2 O ( 3 ) [ppaH = pipemidic acid, saraH = sarafloxacin, oba = 4,4′‐oxybis(benzoate), bpdc = 4,4′‐biphenyldicarboxylate]. Their structures were determined by single‐crystal X‐ray diffraction analyses, and they were further characterized by elemental analyses, IR spectra, X‐ray powder diffraction, and TG analyses. Compound 1 represents a novel 3D (3,4)‐connected network with a (6 · 8 2 ) 2 (6 · 8 2 ) 2 (6 2 · 8 2 · 10 2 ) topology constructed from Cu atoms and ppa ligands. Compound 2 represents the first example of a 3D metal–quinolone complex with a (3,4,6)‐connected (5 2 · 6) 2 (5 2 · 6 4 )(5 4 · 6 6 · 7 2 · 8 · 9 2 ) topology. Compound 3 is an unprecedented 3D metal–quinolone complex constructed from Cl – ions connecting the {Cd(sara)} n n + layers. Furthermore, the luminescent properties of compounds 2 and 3 are discussed.
